To start new utility service, please complete a new Utility Service Application. This application can be found under the Utility Service Forms tab. The completed application must be submitted to the City of Van Alstyne at least 24 hours in advance of the start of service. All applications must be submitted along with a picture I.D., such as a valid Driver’s License or a State I.D. If renting a property, a copy of the lease must also be included. In addition to the application, a $150.00 deposit and $50.00 service fee is required to start services. The deposit is held until a Disconnection of Service request is received and a final bill has been processed. The deposit will be applied to the final account balance, and any remaining credit balance will be refunded.

Important Billing Information
- Utility bills are mailed out on or before the 1st of each month and due on the 15th.
- Late charges will apply to all accounts if payment is not received in the office by the 15th.
- Disconnection for nonpayment occurs on or after the 26th day of each month.
- If a utility bill has an outstanding balance on and after the 26th day of the month the account is subject to a $100.00 reconnection fee during business hours or a $200.00 reconnection fee after business hours.
- The reconnection fee is due when it becomes necessary to discontinue utility service, not only once service has been suspended.
