Downtown Update!

The Downtown Revitalization Project is moving into its next phase!

Reminder: Starting today, (March 16th) at 8:00 AM, a section of Main Drive north of Marshall Street will be closed in addition to the current closure on Marshall Street.

This phase includes a complete makeover for Marshall Street and Main Drive with:

New crosswalks

ADA ramps

Upgraded street lighting

We appreciate your patience as we continue to glam up Downtown!

GREAT NEWS: Downtown businesses remain OPEN during construction, so be sure to stop by, check out the new vibes, and support our local businesses!

Progress Report on FM 121 at US 75

Anyone who lives and works in Van Alstyne knows that the underpass on FM 121 at US 75 needs work to improve traffic flow. Our Mayor, Jim Atchison and our State Representative, Rep. Shelley Luther explain the work they have been doing to get this fixed!

It's Spring Break! Come check us out and learn more about VAs rich history.

Hours are Tuesday through Friday 10am - 4pm. Admission is absolutely FREE!

Senior Center

The Senior Center will reopen at the new location, 278 Texana, on Monday, March 23rd.

If you want to pick up your Meals on Wheels lunch during the temporary closure, you must call ahead, 903-482-6341. Pickup will be 11am - Noon in the alley behind the former location of the Senior Center on Main Drive.

Civil War at Van Alstyne Junior High

It's one thing to read about the Civil War, it's another to experience it. 8th graders at Van Alstyne Junior High had a chance to time travel to the 19th century and get a taste of what the Civil War was really like.

Bryan Esmaili-Doki, Area Engineer for TxDOT was invited down for a presentation and Q&A by The Van Alstyne Chamber of Commerce. This video is the Q&A portion of the presentation. The main topic was the traffic and expansion of the underpass at FM 121 (Van Alstyne Parkway) and US 75.
