City Council Meeting Tomorrow

City Council Meeting tomorrow at 6:30pm at City Hall, 152 N Main Drive in Van Alstyne. The City Council Meeting will be proceeded by a joint work session with the Planning and Zoning Commission that starts at 4:30pm. The City Council Meeting will be live streamed. Annual Water Disinfection

Through March 30th

Here's Trisha with the Public Works Department flushing the system so the new disinfectant mix can flow through the system. Public Works will do this again at the end of the month when we return to the chlorine plus ammonia (to form chloramines) mix.

Here's what is happening through March 30th (from the North Texas Municipal Water District website):

Temporary Change in Disinfection

Each spring for about one month, we suspend the typical use of ammonia to allow the remaining chlorine to keep the water disinfected as it travels through the system. This temporary change in disinfectant helps maintain the system and high water quality year-round. It's important to do this before summer because hotter temperatures can increase the potential for bacterial growth in pipes.

Virtual Public Meeting

The first Virtual Public Meeting (VPM) will be held from February 24 through March 24, so there is still time to participate. During this 30-day period, the public will have the opportunity to view a pre-recorded presentation, provide comments through an interactive map, and complete a survey.

Civil War Reenactment Thursday

Heads up! Coming up Thursday this week, Van Alstye Junior High School will be hosting a Civil War Reenactment. The event starts in the morning and runs into the afternoon. You may hear a cannon and some musket fire. No need to be concerned, it's all blanks!
